Biography

Dr. Kyle Minkel is a proud California native, born and raised in San Luis Obispo. He earned his bachelor’s degree in anthropology with honors from the University of San Diego, where his passion for human anatomy and movement first took root. He went on to attend Western University of Health Sciences, graduating at the top of his class with a strong foundation in patient-centered care and clinical excellence.

Dr. Minkel completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, where he trained under leading experts and gained extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex musculoskeletal conditions.

His love for the outdoors was shaped early on—spending winters skiing in Mammoth and summers backpacking through the rugged beauty of the John Muir Wilderness. Now, he’s thrilled to return to the Eastern Sierra with his wife, son, daughter, and two dogs, embracing the opportunity to share the landscapes of his childhood with his own family.

Dr. Minkel is deeply committed to serving the Mammoth community, combining advanced surgical expertise with a deep appreciation for the active, mountain lifestyle. He looks forward to building lasting relationships with his patients and helping them stay strong, mobile, and adventurous—no matter the season.
